Oracle announces the end-of-distribution and end-of-life updates for OCI Storage Gateway effective February 28th, 2024.

Storage Gateway is a cloud storage gateway that enables customers to connect on-premises applications with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Applications that can write data to an NFS target can also write data to the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage, without requiring application modification to uptake the REST APIs.

Service Impact

• New customers - No new customer downloads will be supported for the the Storage Gateway client.
• Existing customers - can continue to use Storage Gateway, however no further updates will be released and no new downloads will be available. Support for customer issues will be limited via OCI Support.

Alternative Solutions

We recommend customers transition to one of the suggested alternatives to support their data migration needs:

• OCI CLI running OCI Object Storage sync
• Rclone:  OCI support for Rclone, Using Rclone to migrate to OCI Object Storage
• OCIFs: enabling access to Object Storage via a Filesystem
• Onprem migration to OCI Object storage - leveraging rclone and NFS file system
• Virtual ZFS – leverage shadow migration to support data migration
