For 1-node virtual machine DB systems, there is now a fast provisioning option that allows you to create your DB system using Logical Volume Manager as your storage management software rather than using grid infrastructure (GI). This option is ideal for development and testing tasks where you need the database for a short amount of time, and you do not use it for production workloads.
