The OCI Toolkit for Visual Studio Code provide a set of features that helps developers create, test and deploy resources and applications on OCI from within Microsoft Visual Studio Code.

To find the OCI Toolkit for VS Code, go to the Visual Studio Code Marketplace and search for 'OCI'.

Requirements

To use the OCI Toolkit for VS Code, you must have the following:

  • Microsoft VS Code. The OCI Toolkit for VS Code supports VS Code versions 1.59.x to 1.69.x.
  • An Oracle Cloud Infrastructure account.
  • Properly configured credentials and configuration file. For more information, see SDK and CLI configuration file.
  • A user created in that account, in a group with a policy that grants the desired permissions. This can be a user for yourself, or another person/system that needs to call the API.
  • The OCI Toolkit for VS Code toolkit requires the following policy:
    Allow group <> to inspect compartments in tenancy
    For an example of how to set up a new user, group, compartment, and policy, see Adding Users. For a list of typical policies you may want to use, see Common Policies.
  • A key pair used for signing API requests, with the public key uploaded to Oracle. For more information on generating and uploading keys, see Required Keys and OCIDs.
