User Accounts
By default, a user account is created for each desktop in a pool. Desktop users do not use this account directly but should be aware of it for several reasons.
Desktop User Account
Each desktop is automatically configured with a default user account. On Windows desktops the user name is DesktopUser and on Linux desktops the user name is desktopuser. Desktop users must know their user name when configuring their desktop for first use.
The account password is generated by the service and is not known by the desktop user.
Desktop users must not change this password:
- For Windows desktops, if the default password for DesktopUser is changed, attempting to connect to the desktop will result in a Network Level Authentication (NLA) error and the user will be unable to re-launch the desktop.
- For Linux desktops, if the default password for Desktopuser is changed, the desktop user will be required to enter the password each time they open their desktop. This is in addition to logging in to the Secure Desktops Interface.
Directory Service Accounts
If you need to specify your own user accounts rather than using the default account, your desktop image should be integrated with Active Directory or another directory service using LDAP. Add the appropriate tag to your image to disable provisioning of the default desktop user account. See Tag Reference. The desktop user must authenticate with known credentials when they open their desktop.
